Abstract submission is now closed for the AUGIS Annual Scientific Meeting which is taking place from the 21 - 23 September 2022 in Aberdeen. 

  • Closing date: The closing date for the submission of abstracts has been extended to will be 9am on Tuesday 14 June 2022
  • Notification date: The notification date for successful abstract submissions will be Thursday 14 July 2022

Successful Authors will be notified on 14 July 2022.

Submission Instructions

All abstracts submitted for AUGIS 2022 must be done so via the online portal. Please read through the information below before submitting your abstract.

Submissions can be done under the category of:

  • Bariatric
  • Benign
  • Emergency Surgery
  • HPB
  • OG Cancer

We will also be accepting video submissions within the above categories.

  • Abstracts are marked anonymously by the review committee and those abstracts selected for presentation at AUGIS 2022 will be notified by the email address provided in the abstract submission.
  • Authors will have the opportunity to indicate their preferred method of presentation, however the review committee will make the final decision on whether an accepted abstract is chosen for poster or oral presentation.
  • The submission form is divided into the following sections: Background, Methods, Results, Conclusion and each section has a maximum word count of 200 words.
  • Abstracts selected for the AUGIS 2022 Meeting must have one presenting author only and at least one of the co-authors or presenting author must register to attend the meeting.
  • Submissions after the closing date will not be accepted.

Abstract Presentations

Please find below details on the format for presenting abstracts which are accepted for Poster, Oral and Video Presentation. 

All successful abstract submissions will be notified with the details of the presentation type that there abstract has been selected for. 

All abstracts selected for the AUGIS 2022 Meeting must have one presenting author only and at least one of the co-authors or presenting author must register to attend the meeting.

Please remember to quote the conference name and the reference number in any communication with us.

Poster Presentations

  • Abstracts accepted for Poster presentation will be displayed on the online Conference App and electronically at the meeting.
  • Posters will be uploaded as PDF for display online and at the meeting.
  • There will be no requirement to bring a physical poster to the event

Oral Presentations

  • Abstracts accepted for the Free Paper Session will take place on Thursday 22 September 2022 in the relevant parallel session. Presenters will have 5 minutes for their presentation and 2 minutes for questions.
  • Abstracts chosen for the Prize Paper Session which will take place on Friday 23 September 2022.  Presenters will have 7 minutes for their presentation and 2 minutes for questions.


Video Presentations

If you would like to submit a video submission for the AUGIS 2022 Meeting, please follow the instructions below:

  • Please use the Abstract submission portal to submit your abstract and complete the relevant information: Click here to submit 
  • Videos should be a maximum of 4 minutes in duration. Longer videos will not be considered.
  • Non-professional productions and voice-over
  • Please use a platform such as Vimeo or You Tube (private) and copy the link to your video into the relevant “Video Submissions” section on the abstract submission portal.
  • As part of the OG Cancer programme we are hoping to include surgical video sessions on 'tips and tricks’
